did not want to change the world."

Mark and Tracy Wegman
|
Mark
Wegman is the founder and President/Artistic Director of Scene One
Theatre. He, along with his wife Tracy, began the group in
2002 and finally found the
performance venue a home in 2005: an old beauty shop in downtown
Jefferson City, Missouri. With the help of a few friends, he turned the
space into a black box theatre and opened to the public with the first
show, "Psycho Beach Party," in June of 2005. Mark directed the
production and performed in the show.
Mark Wegman participated
in theatrical productions throughout grade school and high school. He
went on to the University of Missouri – Columbia (Mizzou) and studied
theatre, acting, directing and playwriting from 1989 to 1992. During
the summer of 1991 he took a paying gig as an actor doing summer stock
theatre with the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre in Clinton, Iowa. He
performed in shows that were staged from June thru August of that year.
In addition to performing at Mizzou, he also acted with The Maplewood
Barn Community Theatre and Columbia Entertainment Company while living
in Columbia, MO.
He returned to his hometown of Jefferson City
after college and resumed theatrical activities with theatres in
Jefferson City. He has been involved with The Little Theatre of
Jefferson City, both acting and directing since 1984 and has served
multiple terms as a board member for the organization. He
also
performed with the Capital City Players, throughout the
1990's.
He
is currently employed with Missouri River Regional Library in Jefferson
City. He has worked for their Outreach Services/ Bookmobile
Department since March of 2000. Additionally, in 2009 he
became
the reader's theatre coordinator for the library; producing 2-3
productions a year, all in an effort to raise funds for the Missouri
River Regional Library foundation.
"The theatre" has been and
remains a love and a driving force in Mark Wegman's life. He enjoys
it. He feels it is one of the things he does best. Throughout
the
years, he has acted and directed in countless theatrical productions
through a variety of venues. However, his number one passion
is
Scene One. "The magic... it's all in the space," he says. His
most recent endeavor is "The Day Smokey Died: Memoirs of a
Mid-MO
Bookmobile Driver" with performances at Scene One in March, April and
May 2010. It is his original work based on his job.
